12 March 2005: INFLUENZA IN JAPAN UNUSUALLY LARGE AND LATE
TOKYO: Officials at Japan's National Institute of Infectious Diseases say this year's level of type B influenza is unusually large and late."We haven't seen type B spread this much in the past decade," an institute representative said Saturday.

Health officials say influenza broke out this year three to four weeks later than during other years and type B usually lasts into spring, the Mainichi Daily News reported."We want people to wear masks while they are in crowded places and take care to wash their hands and gargle," a health official said.
